Denisse’s Tres Leches Cake

Ingredients

  • 2 cups flour
  • 3 Tablespoons baking powder
  • 8 eggs
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 Teaspoon vanilla
  • 2 cans Evaporated Milk
  • 2 cans Condensed Milk
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 tub Whipped cream (1 cup, plus more to decorate)
  • Fruit, to decorate

Procedure

  1. Preheat oven to 350° F.
  2. Combine flour and baking powder. Set aside.
  3. Separate the yolk and egg whites.
  4. In a large mixing bowl, mix the yolks. Then mix in sugar.
  5. Alternating, add small amounts of milk and flour mixture to the yolk and sugar bowl. Mix in between. (Start with flour and end with milk.)
  6. Beat egg whites till spongy, then add egg whites to mixture.
  7. Add a couple drops of vanilla and mix.
  8. Pour batter into prepared pan and bake for 1 hour.
  9. In a pitcher, combine 1 cup of milk, 2 cans evaporated milk, 2 cans of condensed milk, 1 cup Whipped cream.
  10. After cake has baked and cooled, pierce cake several times with a fork.
  11. Pour milk mixture over the top of the cooled cake and allow the cake to sit and absorb the milk mixture.
  12. Spread whipped cream on cake and decorated with desired fruit.
  13. Refrigerate till cool and ready to serve. (The colder the better. Best if prepared a day early.)
