Mother’s Flour Tortillas

Ingredients

  • 11 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 Tablespoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder, heaping
  • 1 1/2 Tablespoons vegetable oil
  • hot water

Procedure

  1. Mix dries together.
  2. Mix vegetable oil into dries.
  3. Slowly add water and mix with hand until flour mixture is no longer sticking to hand.
  4. Massage dough into a ball and let rest in a covered bowl for 10-15 minutes, until dough is spongy. (softly touch)
  5. Roll dough into small balls, about 8.
  6. Pre-heat skillet on medium high heat.
  7. On a lightly floured working surface and floured rolling pin, roll out 1 ball till desired size.
  8. Place on pre-heated skillet right away and flip once bubbly.
  9. Store cooked tortillas in a container, wrapping tortillas in a towel.
  10. Repeat steps 7 and 10 till complete.
